Breastmilk Jewelry in Illinois: A Local Artist You Can Trust

When you choose someone to create your breastmilk jewelry, you’re trusting them with something that can never truly be replaced.

It’s more than milk.

It’s late-night feedings. Countless hours spent pumping. The tears, the triumphs, the moments when you wondered if you should keep going—and the pride you felt when you did.

As a fellow breastfeeding mom, I understand that because I’ve lived it myself.

My Story

Roselynn & Rayne began with my own breastfeeding journey.

I exclusively breastfed my youngest daughter for 14 months. She refused to take a bottle, and I was never a great pumper, so I only had a few small bags of breastmilk stored away in the freezer.

When our journey came to an end, I couldn’t bring myself to throw that milk away. It represented over a year of dedication, sacrifice, love, and nourishment. I knew I wanted a keepsake to remember it forever.

The problem?

I wasn’t comfortable shipping my only bags of breastmilk across the country.

So I did what I always do—I started researching.

After countless hours of learning, testing, and perfecting preservation methods, I created my very first breastmilk keepsake. What began as something deeply personal quickly grew into something much bigger.

Today, I’ve had the incredible honor of preserving the breastfeeding and pumping journeys of hundreds of mothers throughout Illinois and across the United States.

Every keepsake I create reminds me why I started.

Because I know exactly what that tiny bag of milk represents.

Why Choose a Local Breastmilk Jewelry Artist?

One of the biggest reasons families throughout Illinois choose Roselynn & Rayne is peace of mind.

If you’re local to Oswego, Naperville, Aurora, Yorkville, Plainfield, Joliet, or the surrounding communities, you can simply schedule a drop-off rather than mailing your breastmilk. I know I didn't feel comfortable shipping my milk off into the mail which is why I love creating these for all of the local mamas in my area with the same thought.

Many moms tell me that being able to hand-deliver something so sentimental gives them peace of mind throughout the process.

Even if you aren’t nearby, I work with families across the country and have created a safe, reliable process for shipping breastmilk.

No matter where you live, your keepsake is treated with the same level of care I would want for my own.

How Much Breastmilk Do You Need?

Surprisingly, not much at all.

I only need 10–15 mL of breastmilk (about half an ounce).

Simply place your milk into a breastmilk storage bag and clearly label it with your:

  • First and Last Name

  • Order Number

  • Phone Number

That’s it!

Because only a small amount is needed, there is often leftover preserved breastmilk once your keepsake is completed. We save all left over breastmilk in case you were to ever want another piece made in the future.

Can I Use Frozen Breastmilk?

Absolutely! Fresh or frozen breastmilk both work beautifully.

If you’re dropping your milk off in person at my Oswego, Illinois studio, your milk can be either fresh or frozen.

If you’re mailing your milk, simply allow it to thaw to room temperature before shipping. There’s no need to ship it frozen.

*Please note when you are dropping off in person or shipping through the mail, I will ask you to double bag your milk bag in a ziplock to ensure there is no leakage. I can't tell you how many times a ziplock has caught the milk from milk bags that have leaked once thawed.

Will My Breastmilk Go Bad in the Mail?

No. This is one of the questions I get asked most often.

Breastmilk storage bags provide a sterile environment, so harmful bacteria isn’t growing while your milk is in transit.

Once your milk arrives, I immediately begin my preservation process which will ensure it will never spoil inside your jewelry.

What Happens If I Lose My Breastmilk Jewelry?

Life happens, jewelry gets misplaced, chains break, accidents happen...I've had mama's tell me there's got misplaced, ran over by a car, and dropped down the drain at the mall. And it was. HUGE relief to know they were able to order another keepsake.

I know many moms trust me with their very last bag of milk, and I never take that responsibility lightly. That’s why I do something many customers truly appreciate. I keep all your left over preserved breastmilk incase you were to ever want/need another piece made in the future. Your leftover preserved breastmilk gets labeled with your first/last name and order number and is pulled anytime you need another piece made or would like to mix milks from a future journey.

That means if you ever lose your keepsake or decide years later that you’d love another ring or necklace, you won’t have to send breastmilk again.

Can I Combine Milk From Multiple Pregnancies?

Yes!

Many mothers choose to combine breastmilk from multiple breastfeeding journeys into one keepsake as a way to celebrate every journey together.

It’s a beautiful reminder that every journey deserves to be remembered.

How Do I Care for Breastmilk Jewelry?

Before offering my jewelry to customers, I wanted to know exactly how it would hold up in real life.

So I wore mine. I washed my hands, cooked meals, cleaned the house, exercised, went swimming, even showered wearing my personal breastmilk jewelry.

It has been 4 years since I have made my first piece and it still looks brand new today.

That said, I want your keepsake to last a lifetime. I do not personally recommend doing any of that with your jewelry every single day. I do want you to know that if you forget to remove your jewelry while doing any of those things every once in a while... that it will be alright.

Every order includes detailed care instructions recommending you remove your jewelry before showering, hand washing, sleeping, exercising, or applying perfumes, lotions, or essential oils.

All of my jewelry is crafted with sterling silver settings. Gold and rose gold finishes are beautifully plated, but like any plated jewelry, they can wear over time with heavy daily exposure.

If you’re looking for a forever heirloom with maximum durability, solid gold settings are also available for an additional cost.

When Should I Order Breastmilk Jewelry?

There isn’t one perfect time.

Some moms order:

  • Right before they finish breastfeeding

  • After their final nursing session

  • After their last pumping session

  • When they reach a goal like six months, one year, or two years

  • After weaning

  • Years later when they’re finally ready

Whether your journey lasted one week, six months, or three years, your story matters.

You grew, nourished, and comforted your baby.

That deserves to be celebrated.
