FAQ

Everything you need to know about creating your personalized breastmilk or memorial keepsake jewelry.

What is keepsake jewelry?

Keepsake jewelry is a meaningful way to preserve special memories in a piece you can hold close forever. At Roselynn & Rayne, we specialize in handcrafted breastmilk jewelry and memorial jewelry made with meaningful inclusions such as cremation ashes, hair, pet fur, dried flowers, fabric, and more. Each piece is thoughtfully created to honor the people, pets, and moments that mean the most to you.

Where is Roselynn & Rayne located?

Roselynn & Rayne is a locally owned keepsake jewelry business located in Oswego, Illinois. We proudly serve families throughout the Chicagoland area and across the United States.

Do you accept orders from outside Illinois?

Absolutely! While we love serving our local community, we also accept orders from customers throughout the United States. Detailed shipping instructions are provided so you can safely send your meaningful inclusions to us.

Can I drop off my breastmilk or memorial inclusions in person?

Yes! We offer scheduled drop-off appointments in Oswego, Illinois, for customers who would prefer to personally hand over their breastmilk, cremation ashes, hair, or other meaningful materials. We understand how precious these inclusions are and want you to feel comfortable throughout the entire process.

Breastmilk Jewelry Questions

How much breastmilk do I need to send?

We typically request approximately 10–15 mL (about half an ounce) of breastmilk to create your keepsake jewelry. Just a tiny amount is needed to make your keepsake.

Can I use frozen or old breastmilk?

Yes! Both fresh and previously frozen breastmilk can be used to create your keepsake. Even breastmilk that is no longer suitable for feeding may still be used for jewelry. If you are shipping your breastmilk though make sure it is thawed and sent ROOM temp.

What happens to my leftover breastmilk?

Any remaining preserved breastmilk is carefully saved so it can be used for future keepsake orders. This allows you to have additional jewelry created without needing to provide more breastmilk.

Will my breastmilk jewelry turn yellow over time?

Each breastmilk inclusion undergoes a preservation process before being incorporated into your jewelry ensuring your breastmilk will never go bad. This process is designed to help maintain its appearance over time. Each piece comes with a care card and if properly cared for, no yellowing will occur. Like other handcrafted jewelry, proper care and storage are important for preserving its beauty. No preservation process can guarantee that a piece will never change color.

Cremation & Memorial Jewelry Questions

How much cremation ash is needed for memorial jewelry?

We typically request approximately ½ teaspoon of cremation ashes. Only a small amount is needed to create your meaningful keepsake, and any unused ashes will be returned to you.

1/2 teaspoon is enough to make up to 10 pieces of jewelry if you were planning on orering for you whole family.

Can you make jewelry with pet ashes or fur?

Absolutely. Our pet memorial jewelry can be created using cremation ashes, fur, or other meaningful inclusions from your beloved companion. Whether you're remembering a dog, cat, or another cherished pet, we would be honored to create something special.

What other materials can be incorporated into memorial jewelry?

We offer a variety of meaningful inclusions, including:

-Cremation ashes (human or pet)

-Breastmilk

-Locks of hair or pet fur

-Funeral or wedding flowers

-Fabric from meaningful clothing or blankets

-Umbilical cord

-Baby Hospital Hat

-Pregnancy test caps

-Grave dirt

-Sand and small shells

-Other sentimental materials (contact us to discuss)

How is your memorial jewelry different from traditional urn jewelry?

Unlike traditional urn jewelry, which typically contains a small compartment for storing ashes, our memorial jewelry incorporates your loved one's ashes or other meaningful materials directly into a handcrafted stone or setting. This creates a unique, wearable keepsake that beautifully honors their memory.

Will my loved one's ashes be visible in the jewelry?

That depends on the design you choose! Some customers prefer visible ashes, while others prefer a more subtle appearance. We offer different customization options to help you create a piece that reflects your personal preferences.

What happens to unused cremation ashes or other memorial materials?

We understand how irreplaceable these materials are. Any unused cremation ashes or other original inclusions will be carefully packaged and returned to you with your completed order.

How do I safely ship my breastmilk or cremation ashes?

Will I receive photos of my finished jewelry?

Yes! We provide photos of your completed keepsake so you can see your special piece once it has been created.

How should I care for my breastmilk or memorial jewelry?

To help preserve the beauty of your keepsake, we recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to water, harsh chemicals, perfumes, lotions, and excessive heat or direct sunlight. Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, or participating in activities that could damage the setting.

I have put my personal jewelry (that is over 5 years old now) through all of the wear and tear to make sure you are all getting the best quality possible. My rings have been swimming with me in chlorine pools, lakes, showers, handwashing, exercise, etc and still look just as beautiful as the day they were made. So if you forget to take your piece off from time to time, you can be assured it will be okay!
